Monica Martinez, LMHC
Hi, I’m Monica Martinez~
Throughout my life the one constant has been my love of helping people. My own life experiences have led me to be passionate about working with people who suffer with anxiety, depression, and trauma. I especially enjoy working with first responders, medical professionals, and their families. I understand that working under constant stress, pressure, and scrutiny can take a toll on your mental health.
I get it that when you say good-bye to your loved ones and head to work, you think about the day ahead. It’s normal to sometimes feel scared or anxious. But – as a medical professional or a first responder you have to put your fear and anxiety second.
Sometimes it’s those that are most dedicated to their work who are at risk of being negatively affected by it. Many of you are constantly exposed to stress and trauma. This frequent exposure to trauma may be affecting you both personally and professionally and you may even have symptoms of PTSD.
Believe me, I get it! Just because you’ve ignored that fear and anxiety doesn’t mean that it’s disappeared. I can help you figure out how to cope with your pent up fear, stress, and anxiety. I can help you feel like yourself again, have better relationships, and increase your focus on the future rather than the past.
Through counseling, I can help you manage anxiety or past trauma to where it no longer interferes in your daily life. I know that it may be hard for you to reach out for the support that you need because you might fear the stigma of going to counseling. I want you to know that counseling sessions with me are 100% confidential and I always go at your own pace.
I know you’re used to taking care of everyone else, but it’s time you take better care of yourself as well.
I’m a proud alumni of Nova Southeastern University where I received a Masters of Science in Counseling degree from The College of Psychology. I have worked in many different mental health settings over the years. I was born and raised in the Miami area and enjoy working with a diverse group of people. Besides first responders I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and couples.
My approach to psychotherapy involves prioritizing the therapeutic relationship and focusing on solutions. I truly believe that therapy is a useful tool to help people change their lives for the better. I am honored to partner with my clients on their journeys to a happier, healthier tomorrow.
In my free time I enjoy spending time exploring the country in my RV, am a sports fanatic, love exercising and spending time with my family and friends.
