Aziza Hamed, LMHC, QS

Hi – I’m Aziza.

I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida. I received my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from John Carroll University in Ohio. Over the past eight years I’ve worked in school settings, community mental health agencies, and private practice. I specialize in helping my clients feel better, improve their everyday functioning, and navigate difficult relationships and life transitions.

I hold a special place in my heart for working with new parents and caregivers because I’m a new parent myself. I’m a proud mom of two young kids, a boy and girl. Becoming a parent is one of the most intense and emotional events in anyone’s life. It can be a stressful time as well, and can affect how you feel about yourself and your relationships.

As a therapist, this understanding has led me to work with new parents and caregivers to help them adjust to new roles, foster self-compassion, and strengthen open communication with loved ones. I’m a strong believer in encouraging regular self-care. I like to help my clients look at the entire picture and find their right balance.

Postpartum anxiety and depression are common and can affect any new parent (both men and women), including adoptive parents. Seeking help from a professional is useful to gain the support you need to feel better and be the best parent possible.

I’m passionate about my job and fostering authentic and transparent relationships with others. I enjoy working with people of all age groups and have experience working with those who suffer with bipolar, schizophrenia, PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship conflict, parenting issues, life stress, and burnout. I understand that it can be tough speaking to someone about personal struggles, I applaud you for taking the first step towards living a healthy and more fulfilled life. I believe anyone can benefit from counseling, whether they’re in an emotional crisis or wanting support in coping with everyday life stress. Counseling can help!

I use a person-centered approach, which means that I strive to be genuine, accepting, and empathetic. I like to incorporate mindfulness and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy interventions into the therapeutic work. It’s my goal for my clients to feel safe and non-judged in sessions with me. You are the expert on you and your life. Together, we can set goals that I can help you achieve. I want to help you reach your full potential.

Whether your problems are big or small, I’ll walk beside you on your journey to fulfillment and wellbeing.

I also offer supervision to Registered Mental Health Counselor Interns and enjoy sharing my passion for this field with new clinicians. Please reach out to the practice if you are seeking a Qualified Supervisor.
