Kristina Florent, MS

Hi, I’m Kristina. My journey is all about understanding and helping you navigate through the unique challenges and struggles you’re facing. Whether you’re looking for ways to better understand and meet your child’s behavioral or social needs, find social interactions stressful or frustrating, or are in search of support to enhance social skills for you or a loved one, I’m here. If you’re battling stress, anxiety, or other emotional difficulties, feeling challenged in improving communication within your relationships, or seeking advice on building healthier connections, I’m dedicated to being by your side.

My passion is rooted in driving positive change and growth in the lives of those I collaborate with. My goals are aligned with yours, whether it’s to lessen anxiety, enrich relationships, or help you find your sense of self again. I employ evidence-based techniques and strategies tailored to overcome specific hurdles related to social interaction, communication, and building meaningful relationships. Prioritizing your well-being is essential for a healthy and satisfying life, and taking the step to seek support is powerful and brave.

As a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern (RMHCI), with a solid foundation in clinical psychology, I’m committed to applying proven approaches to tackle behavioral, emotional, cognitive, and psychological issues. Currently, I am advancing my education, pursuing a Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology with a focus on Health Psychology at Albizu University, Miami. My academic endeavors include a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from Barry University, highlighted by my thesis on “Child Sexual Assault: Adult Purpose in Life,” and began with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Florida International University.

My experience spans working with children, adolescents, and young adults, including specialized support for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental challenges, leveraging my background as a Registered Behavior Technician. Trained in assessments like the WAIS-IV, ADOS-2, and KTEA-II, my approach is centered on providing a safe, empathetic space for clients to explore, grow, and embark on their healing journey. I believe in empowering each client, ensuring they feel heard and understood. Choosing to work with me means stepping into a collaborative, supportive environment that respects your unique needs. My motivation as a therapist comes from a sincere belief in the transformative power of positive change and the strength of resilience in overcoming life’s hurdles.

As a proud Florida native, I cherish time spent outdoors, be it at the beach, kayaking through the waters, or trekking along nature trails. Fitness is a significant part of my life, with weightlifting presenting a welcomed challenge. Quality time with family is precious to me, especially the joy and laughter shared with my two nieces and nephew. Being fluent in both English and Creole allows me to seamlessly switch between languages, enriching my ability to communicate and connect. Let’s embark on this journey together, towards a path of healing, growth, and resilience.
