Licensed Clinical Social Worker (License # SW 16815)
Hi – I’m Eileen
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I specialize in treating the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual impacts of trauma; and their many resultant outcomes, such as addictions, mental health disorders and relational issues. With deep compassion and non-judgmental listening, I hold space for healing and growth to occur.
I have extensive experience counseling children, adolescents, adults, and families with a range of mental health challenges and diagnoses, including (but not limited to) – personality disorders, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and those diagnosed with both substance abuse and a mental illness.
I endeavor to treat every person as a unique and precious gem who has the ability to shine and lead a joyful, wholesome life. My ultimate goal is to help each individual recognize and uncover psychological and interpersonal issues and in so doing, reveal their endless possibilities. I often incorporate a mindfulness approach with cognitive-behavioral techniques to create a customized plan of care that supports the achievement of your personalized goals.
Throughout the years I have worked with many people going through the “12 Steps” of Alcoholics Anonymous, however I am open to utilizing any approach that helps clients stay safe and recover. I try to bring “fresh eyes” to my client’s stories of pain. These stories are told by those affected by trauma, substance abuse, family disharmony, chronic pain, and grief. I guide clients to sit with discomfort, manage their emotions, be effective in their relationships, and create “a life worth living.”
My post-graduate training has given me useful skills to help anyone dealing with single-incident traumatic events (e.g., car accidents, crime victimization, medical trauma, birth trauma), as well as those with more complex, longer-term trauma and PTSD (e.g., physical and sexual abuse, domestic violence, sexual assault, adoption issues). I get it that when you’ve experienced trauma, you spend most of your time waiting for the other shoe to drop, even when things are going well. You wish that you could move on or at least not think about it so much.
But, one of the most powerful and rapid ways to make change when we’ve experienced trauma is to sort it through with someone else. You don’t have to figure this out by yourself. I can help. Trauma doesn’t have to be an everyday part of your life. Trauma therapy can shift the story so that you feel in charge of your life again.
In my personal life, I’m a proud alumnus of the Florida Atlantic University Phyllis and Harvey Sandler School of Social Work. I enjoy watching football and spending time with my friends and family.
I believe being a psychotherapist is my life calling and I feel I am home and at peace in the therapeutic space.
