Registered Clinical Social Work Intern (License # ISW16189)
Hi – I’m Katherine!
I love helping people who are struggling with life’s challenges. We’re all human and we all go through tough situations. It can be hard to reach out for help. It takes courage and I applaud you for even clicking on this website to research possible psychotherapists to talk to. I’d like to help you through your tough times.
Do you sometimes feel as if every bad thing that happens takes you further down – and now you’re so far down you’re barely hanging on? I get it! Part of what helps me understand my client’s struggles is my own life experience. We therapists all have a story, and while it’s not really important to share that story with our clients it is important to take every bit of our life experience and combine it with the years of school and training we’ve gone through and apply it to helping others.
I’m passionate about working with people who are in life transition. Have you just had a baby? Are you moving or recently moved? Are you in a dead end job but afraid to change? Have you switched schools and find it hard to adjust? Have you recently been diagnosed with a chronic illness? Have you lost someone close to you and your world is upside down? Life transitions equal change for most people, and change is HARD!
Anxiety and depression are real and often cause debilitating symptoms. I want to help you learn how to reduce and better cope with any negative emotions and behaviors you’re experiencing.
My background includes working with a wide range of clientele from children, teens, adults, families, and couples. Some of my past work experience includes working with new mothers and their families at Memorial Hospital, helping adolescents with disabilities (and their caregivers) at the Jewish Adoption and Family Care Care Options – Children’s Ability Center. I received my Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Social Work from Florida Atlantic University.
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my one year old baby boy, he’s the light of my life and I’m so proud to be his mom. I’m transitioning into a new life and roles as many of my clients are. I truly get it when my clients say life is hard sometimes. I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship within a psychotherapy session. Having someone who is there for you, truly trying to understand you, pointing out new ways to think about things, challenging you, holding you accountable, teaching you about mental health – this is what has helped me and I know it can help you too.
