Elizabeth Escuage, Student Intern

Elizabeth Escuage, Student Intern/Low Cost Program

Hi there! I’m so glad you’re here. Making the first step to finding a good counselor is not any easy one. My name is Elizabeth Escuage, and I am a graduate student intern practicing under the guidance of Carol Mirones, LCSW at Seasons Psychotherapy Associates in Fort Lauderdale. I am currently in the process of earning my Masters in Social Work. I earned my Bachelor’s in Psychology from Florida Atlantic University’s Wilkes Honors College. While there, I conducted a research study which looked at how emotion and memories are linked. My experience in the area of psychology, married with my current social work curriculum has helped to shape my understanding of the highs and lows of the human experience. I have taken multiple courses on the psychology of human development, the neurobiology of attachment, and the human mind.

Outside of the classroom or lab, I have extensive experience with children and families. I worked as a nanny for eight years and have volunteered with children for over a decade. I have a passion for helping children and their families navigate the difficulties of life. Because of my experience with children, I understand that they require special attention and accommodations that can be quite different than adults. If you are a parent reading this, please know that I do not expect your child to be willing to sit on a couch and talk about their feelings for an hour! Play, crafts, sand trays, and other kid-focused techniques allow for your child to talk about their world in their own voice.

My approach to counseling is centered around empathy, respect of client autonomy, and healing. Although I may make use of Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Play Therapy, and other evidence-based treatment modalities, my goal is always to collaborate with each client and work on what you want to work on. I will avoid the use of big words and fancy terms, and will not tell you what to do. I aim to invite each client to feel safe, seen, and heard.

Whether you are seeking help processing a recent breakup, anxiety about school, or seeking assistance in growing your child’s emotional tool box. I hope that you will feel empowered to make the next step with me as your counselor. Please feel free to reach out with any questions, I hope to see you soon!
